BOUQUET
Very expressive, with ripe black fruits, spices and some minerality. Great balance between primary and spicy aromas. The fruity, floral notes are characteristic of La Aguilera, as the location of the vineyards amidst the mountains of the Castilian plateau helps the grapes to ripen well and provide great freshness and complexity.
PALATE
Rich and powerful, with fruity notes, freshness, elegant tannins and excellent persistence on the finish.
VITICULTURE
Vineyards over 45 years old at an altitude ranging from 820m to 870m. Planted on slopes and terraces with various exposures, surrounded by scrubland, pines and holm oaks. Sandy-clay and loam and clay-loam soils.
WINEMAKING
Grapes are macerated before fermentation in a refrigerated space (5 C - 41ºF) to maximize the wine’s fruit expression. Double selection table. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation in barrel. 14 months in French and American oak barrels. 50% of barrels are new and 50% are of second use.
