WINEMAKER David Moreno

David Moreno is a family winery that has always focused on quality first. We (Birdie Vinos) have been working with this producer for more than 25 years, and every year we are positively surprised by the mastery and value for money of these wines.

The wine history of this family started in 1912 when Ponciano Moreno set up a bodega with a capacity of 18,000 litres. In 1963, the whole family moved to Barcelona in search of a better life. Almost 20 years have passed and at the end of 1981 David Moreno, aged 33, decided to leave his job as an engineer and put his grandfather and father’s knowledge into practice. When he only got started, his relatives and friends lent him their small cellars without any financial interest involved, so that he could fulfil his dream as a wine producer.

In 1988 a modern winery with a capacity of 1,800,000 litres was settled in Badarán, a small village in the west of La Rioja. Nowadays, David is working together with his daughters Paula and Gemma. The three work side by side in order to give continuity to this history of work, effort and passion with which this familiar project was born.
