The vineyard area occupies just over 300 hectares, three-quarters of which were planted before 1950 with the indigenous variety Tinta Fina (Tempranillo). Montevannos has 50 hectares of vineyards of the Tinta Fina and Merlot varieties located at more than 900 meters high.
This fact, together with the dedication in the constant care of each of its vineyards, the rigorous selection of the grapes during the harvest, the natural characteristics of the Ribera of dry summers and rigorous winters with scarce and concentrated rainfall in spring and Autumn, already a clay-calcareous soil structure as well as a morphology of soft reliefs of its surroundings, are fundamental factors in the development and ripening of the grapes, which gives its wines their own character and great personality.
Once the best grapes are selected in the vineyard itself, and after controlled fermentation in tanks, subjected to the highest quality standards, the wine is aged in a park of 1,000 American and French oak barrels in their winery, where it reaches fullness and richness of the nuances sought, the expression and the characteristic texture of their wines.
