BOUQUET
An expressive nose with multiple layers of red fruit; strawberry, cherry and red plum, notes of black pepper, sandalwood, Mediterranean herbs, red tea and hints of subtle ageing.
PALATE
The silky tannins frame a tasty and fresh palate and anticipate an elegant finish. An excellent vintage that has given us an ample, defined and intensely fruity Marqués de Murrieta.
VITICULTURE

Located mainly in Finca Ygay, in Rioja Alta, with a total surface area of 300 hectares around the winery, mostly clay-limestone soil at an altitude of between 320 metres and 485 metres.

WINEMAKING

After reception at the winery, the bunches are destemmed and the varieties are fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Vatting lasts 8 to 10 days, during which time the must is pumped over and pumped down to encourage contact between the must and the skins, and to promote a slow, natural extraction of aromas and polyphenols. After fermentation, the solid parts of the grapes are pressed in vertical presses in a gentle and slow process that favours the extraction of the colour and ripe tannins that reside in the skins. 24 months in 225-litre American oak barrels.

FOOD PAIRING
Organic egg in flower, creamy truffled potato and the sweetness of langoustine with Iberian jowl; roast duck with foie-gras ravioli and salt.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Recommended serving temperature: 13ºC.
