WINEMAKER Barón de Ley

BARÓN DE LEY is a winery housed in a 16th century monastery where the wines were made by monks more than 500 years ago. It was founded in 1985 by a small group of renowned Rioja professionals who decided to create an innovative for that time project in the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja: a winery inspired by the Médoc châteaux, where they´re turning wines into real pieces of art.

The winery is situated in an exceptional place within Mendavia on the left bank of River Ebro. 10 indigenous red and white grape varieties are cultivated on the surface of more than 600 hectares. The grapes are manually harvested and thoroughly selected for each vintage.

Due to its innovative and scrupulous approach to winemaking, the winery Barón de Ley found itself among the elite of Rioja wine brands.
