At the beginning of the 90s´ two brothers, Diego and Hugo Ortega, decided to set off on a risky adventure of cultivating their favourite Pinot Noir in the region of Castilla y Leon, not far from the worldwide famous Ribera del Duero, at an altitude of almost 1,000 meters.
This resulted in a winery Alta Pavina, for the moment the one with the biggest plantations of Pinot Noir in all the Spain.
The owners claim their Pinot Noir variety to be unique, as due to the local climate conditions it turns out to be fruitier, brighter and more concentrated. They also work with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdejo.
This winery for the moment is getting known worldwide, 50% of the sales are made in the international market, you can already find their wines in more than 20 countries.
